It always encourages me when knowing the problems Paul faced, he could say , “But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.” (The last bit is especially uplifting.)
Likewise the words of Joseph to his brothers (Genesis 50:19-20), “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
Is it that Paul, like Joseph, could understand that the ultimate victory belongs to Jesus and the saving of others enables us to enjoy ‘the affirmative side of every situation’?
