I agree with Selwyn, ‘Becoming a Christian is a serious business, but once we are Christians we become inheritors of a deep and lasting joy.’
Consider that the fruits of having Christ within us, are; ‘love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.’ (Galatians 5:22). Therefore we should demonstrate these attributes – every moment of our life – not for just a few hours on a Sunday. There is a lot of anger and fear in today’s world and followers of Jesus should be standing out from the crowd, because of our joy and love for each other – do we?
The question needs to be asked, because why is it, that many non-Christians think that to commit oneself to Christ is to enter a life of melancholy and gloom. I know the exact opposite is true – life with Jesus is to live without fear – it is to walk with the mantle of heaven around you – there is no greater joy!
