Selwyn introduces his fifth personal conviction: ‘deep spiritual change comes not so much from the outside in, but from the inside out.’ He expands his thinking, as follows: ‘I am convinced that the most powerful changes of the personality come about through a change on the inside rather than on the outside. Change, real change, is an ‘inside matter’. It begins at the core of the personality and works its way out.’

He leaves us with a number of questions, such as: ‘Are you doing all you should be doing in terms of the Scripture’s injunctions yet experiencing more pressure than joy, more turbulence than trust?’ And, indicates that he will provide help to those who answer ‘yes’ to this and similar questions; over the next few days.

I know that from my own life – real change only happened with God’s direct intervention – I think that the biggest change in our lives occurs when we are re-born by the power of the Holy Spirit – from then on, it’s a matter of following our Shepherd’s voice. We may wander off the track but He will always seek out those who are lost and lead them back to His flock. So, I’ll be interested in what Selwyn has to say about this particular conviction of his.
