Selwyn now moves on in order ‘to consider another aspect of God’s character – His love’. When John writes in 1 John 4:8, ‘God is Love.’; he captures the most important characteristic of our God.
In John’s Gospel, we read; ‘For God so loved the world (us) that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him (Jesus) shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through Him.‘
If you consider all the other religions of the world which one has a God whose entire relationship with us is based on love. a love that has resulted in our existence and upon who -Â we can base our future?
If we could not depend on God’s love, we would be the most miserable creatures in the entire universe!
I like the prayer for today: “O Father, I am so thankful that you have demonstrated categorically that the greatest thing about You is love. My heart gladly rests upon that glorious fact. And I look forward to exploring it forever. Amen.”
