Selwyn draws our attention to the issue that when we neglect God’s love we can slide to low levels of worship. His says that the current “low level of spoirituality in today’s Church, is that our hearts are so little occupied with thoughts of God’s divine love.” We don’t appreciate or recognise the love that God has for us and therefore we don’t live our lives in an appropriate response to His amazing love.

In Ephesians 1:4- ; we read, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons and daughters through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he has lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. … ”

As Selwyn says in his conclusion; God never lets us travel a path which will lead to suffering in hell – He loves us to much to let that happen without intervening and directing us to safer ground – because his love is pure and holy – he will highlight our sins so that we can deal with them and change our ways. He will work with us and use His power in us to overcome our evil ways. Do you agree?
