Selwyn continues to explore these verses from Romans  8:37-39: “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

He says: “Finally Paul adds, ‘nor anything else in all creation’. This covers all the things that have not been specifically mentioned. Nothing, absolutely nothing in the whole universe, can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. We have perfect security as we surrender to His love.”

The last sentence tells us, where we should be – in a place of perfect security – standing firm with this knowledge should enable us to be God’s ambassadors within our families and communities. Too often, we worship Jesus behind closed doors – nailed shut by our fears of ridicule, persecution and the unknown. Why is it that many of Jesus’ followers – follow at a distance, afraid of what others may think; is it because we are insecure in our faith – is it because we have only partially surrender to His love? What do you think?
