The main verse (Ecclesiastes 3:11, NIV), set for reading and meditation is good because it helps explain our constant yearning for a better future – a better place: “He has also set eternity in the hearts of men and women … “. We are made with the desire to seek our permanent home of endless rest and peace – heaven.
I’m not sure I agree with the quote by Peter Kreeft; I think it is doubt and indifference which has led to a lack of interest in heaven. Our imaginations can hardly work in areas where doubt has staked a claim. Plus, without faith – what would fuel our imaginations – therefore, it’s only those who belong to this world who have ‘cartoon’ impressions of heaven. I think you need to have a relationship with God before the seed of eternity in your heart can grow. What do you think?
A life without hope?
