There are two areas that I liked from today’s study.

Together they contrast the speed of events and tension and that must have been felt by His disciples and followers.

In a matter of hours you have the ‘mix of noise, dust, thirst, jeers and sobs’ – together with the smell of blood, ‘as He hung in agony between earth and heaven’.

Then, there is the silence of the cool, rock tomb. A dead man waits (and we know He is dead – the Romans were experts in death – they knew that when you drove a spear into the side of a person; and blood and fluid poured out – with no movement, no groan – then that person was truly dead, they had not – just fainted.)

‘He waits to fulfil prophecy,  to validate the victory won on the cross’ – to rest in victory and glory.

The quote from Alice Meynell, is nice: ‘All alone, alone, alone, He rose again behind the stone.

Jesus was alone in terms of human company; but somehow I’ve the feeling that on the other-side of the stone, the tomb was full of angels waiting to serve, the risen Lord - just a thought – pure speculation on my part.

What did you get out of today’s study?
