These two points which Selwyn highlights today are worth remembering: “A Christian view of ethics rejects every constructed situation which situation ethics advances if it fails to take into account two important biblical facts. First, God’s sovereignty. God will always prepare a way out for His people. God is still alive today. Second, the Holy Spirit’s power. The believer is encouraged not to worry about what he or she has to say in difficult situations.” (God will provide the right words to say – when you call upon Him, in prayer, to help you.)

As, I mentioned yesterday, we do not follow in Jesus’ footsteps, as orphans – we have an almighty God, who watches over, our every step.  We will stumble at times, but He will always help us back onto our feet; so that we may continue our journey. We know that He will help us – because He has proven to us – on His cross – that He loves us.

The verses set for reading and meditation, are Proverbs 6: 12-19 (NLT):

What are worthless and wicked people like? They are constant liars, signaling their deceit with a wink of the eye, a nudge of the foot, or the wiggle of fingers. Their perverted hearts plot evil, and they constantly stir up trouble. But they will be destroyed suddenly, broken in an instant beyond all hope of healing.

There are six things the Lord hates – no, seven things he detests: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family.”

In summary, you can see from today’s verses – it’s not God’s nature to put you into a position where you have to lie for a ‘good’ cause!
