Selwyn now moves onto the next spiritual exercise – confession and forgiveness.
He writes: “Confession is owning up to God and others about the wrongs we have done, and forgiveness is being willing to wipe the slate clean regarding any who have wronged us. … When sin is identified, exposed to the light of Christ and resolved through confession, joy returns to the soul.”
When there is unconfessed sin residing in our hearts then it’s hard for us to allow God’s Spirit to work in our lives. We are called to love God with our total being – unconfessed sin erodes our love for Jesus and takes away the joy and peace of knowing Him. There is, only one way to resolve this conflict. Don’t you agree?
