You’re a saint!

To Follow Jesus

My notes on Every Day with Jesus, written by Selwyn Hughes; revised and updated by Mick Brooks, published by CWR.

March/April 2016 Issue –  Straight from the Heart‘I have you in my heart … all of you share God’s grace with me’  Philippians 1:7

The text set for today’s reading and meditation:

Philippians 1:1  (NIVUK): “Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:”

In this issue, Selwyn takes on a journey through the epistle to the Philippians.

In this first verse of Philippians, Selwyn draws our attention to the fact that Paul and Timothy see themselves as servants to the people of Philippi.

The next point he makes is that those who are ‘in Christ’ are saints. He concludes by saying that in the eyes of Jesus we are all saints. The challenge lies in living as such.

I liked the prayer for today, which is a great bridge from yesterday’s study.

“Father, help me live as a saint should live – to be committed, dedicated, free from sin and wholly caught up in You. The standard is high but your power is unlimited. Fill me with that power and flow through me to others. Amen.”

I think it’s a challenge for any of us to live free from sin; this world is full of temptations and a biblical concept of sin is now, not accepted, by many people in the Western world.
